Dr. Peddicord was recognized by the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency for his support in development of its nationwide guidance on “Best Management Practices for Lead at Outdoor Shooting Ranges”. This guidance encourages ranges to develop an Environmental Stewardship Plan (ESP) to guide their implementation of the nationwide guidance under the site conditions at their specific range. Dr. Peddicord has developed far more ESPs than anyone, totaling almost 200 for ranges throughout the United States.

Guns and Game Consulting, LLC chose Dr. Peddicord to prepare an ESP for the ranges it was developing for Collier Rod and Gun Club. This ESP was used to be used in support of the zoning permit application for the range.

Suffolk County NY owns the property on which Suffolk County Trap, Skeet & Sporting Clays is operated by a concessionaire. Dr. Peddicord was selected to develop a site-specific ESP for the ranges in 2010, and to update the ESP in 2021 to reflect current circumstances.

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FL FWCC) selected Dr. Peddicord to update ESPs for two of its 11 outdoor shooting ranges. He also conducted a day-long workshop to assist the Range Officers of all ranges in developing ESPs for their ranges, and provided review and comment on the resulting draft ESPs before they were finalized and submitted for FWCC acceptance.

Dr. Peddicord was selected by the Georgia Department of Natural Resources to develop site-specific ESPs for each of the 17 outdoor shooting ranges it operates throughout the state in coastal, river bottom, forested, and mountainous terrains.

Dr. Peddicord was asked by the Bethesda-Chevy Chase Chapter, Izaak Walton League of America to provide an environmental overview of its ranges. He reviewed existing environmental conditions and information and developed a site-specific ESP to help guide future range management.

When The Sporting Club at the Farm was being planned, its owners selected Dr. Peddicord to provide an environmental assessment of the site and the shooting venues planned for it. After discussing the results with the owners, he was asked to develop an Environmental Stewardship Plan for the planned shooting venues as part of the application for zoning approval. At the public hearing he presented the ESP and testified in support of the application, which was approved.
